9/11 Memorial Service (Criminal Justice)
Students in the Criminal Justice Program presented a flag ceremony in memory of the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Criminal Justice instructor Mr. Ryan gave a speech before the presenting of the colors and the playing of the national anthem. One-hundred percent of SkillsUSA members participated in the annual event.
 
After the ceremony, bands from eight of Pickaway-Ross' 10 home schools competed in Battle of the Bands. Students from various programs participated in a student car show.
 
Community members, home school representatives, families and friends attended the event as well as Pickaway-Ross staff members and students

House project (Carpentry)
House project (Carpentry)

Students in the Carpentry Program are busy each school day building a house on a job site in Chillicothe.

The school purchases a lot and when the house is complete, it will be put up for auction.
 
This project has been ongoing since Pickaway-Ross started more than 40 years ago.
 
This project allows students to practice workplace skills that they will need for employment after high school.
 
In addition to Carpentry students, students in the Electrical Program and Adult Education HVAC students work on the house, too.

Stand Down for Homelessness (Cosmetology)
Stand Down for Homelessness (Cosmetology)

Senior students in the Cosmetology Program provided haircuts for veterans as part of the Stand Down for Homelessness Program sponsored by the VA Hospital, Chillicothe.

Approximately 100 veterans took advantage of the service provided by the students. Some of the veterans live in group homes and some are considered homeless.
 
Many of the veterans shared stories of where they served and how long.
 
The effort also provided medical screening, flu shots and clothing for the veterans and their families.

Stand Down for Homelessness (Health-Care Foundations)
Stand Down for Homelessness (Health-Care Foundations)
Students in Health-Care Foundations collected clothing, toiletries, blankets and many other necessities to support homeless veterans and their families.
 
After collecting enough donations to fill several trucks, they distributed them to people in need during the Stand Down event along with the VA at Yoctangee Park in Chillicothe.

Free Dental Clinic (Medical Careers)
Free Dental Clinic (Medical Careers)

Students in Medical Careers assisted Stonecreek Dental Clinic in offering free dental services such as fillings and extractions to community members who otherwise could not afford dental care.

The students provided blood pressure checks as their contribution to the project.

Senior Olympics (Medical Careers & Health-Care Foundations)
Students in in Medical Careers and Health-Care Foundations were a part of the Senior Olympics in Lucasville, Ohio.
 
Numerous long-term care centers from southern Ohio and northern Kentucky brought their residents to participate in competitions such as basketball, corn hole, dominoes and checkers.
 
Pickaway-Ross students and students from other career centers helped out with the activities.
