When responding to an emergency, firefighters are responsible for connecting hoses to hydrants, operating the pumps that power the hoses, climbing ladders, and using other tools to break through debris. Firefighters also enter burning buildings to extinguish fires and rescue individuals. Many firefighters are responsible for providing medical attention. Two out of three calls to firefighters are for medical emergencies, not fires, according to the National Fire Protection Association.

This course covers all the material and skills of the Volunteer Firefighter with additional advanced skills and in-depth knowledge of fire control and live burns. 100% attendance is required. To enroll in the grant-funded program, applicants must provide a copy of your high school diploma or GED, a completed physical form, copies of your NIMS 100 & 700, and a copy of your Driver's License. If you are a private pay (self-pay) student, then a payment of 50% of the TOTAL course fee is required to be paid by the first night of class.
