Zane Trace FFA Chapter Among Ohio's Best!🌟 In a recent showcase of talent and hard work, the Zane Trace FFA Chapter made an impressive mark at the Southeastern Ohio Invitational CDE on March 8th. Demonstrating their prowess in livestock, meat judging, vet science, and wildlife competitions, they ranked among the best, with significant achievements in each category. The team's dedication was evident with a 5th place finish in livestock out of 40 teams, high individual rankings in various competitions, and securing 4th place in the wildlife category. 🐄🌳🔍 But that's not all - the Zane Trace FFA has also been honored with a Gold rating, placing them in the top 10% of the 351 FFA Chapters across Ohio in the National Chapter Award Program. 🏆 This prestigious recognition is a testament to their outstanding program of activities over the past year, including impactful community projects like the FFA Sausage Breakfast, elementary ag lessons, and the Beautify for Buck Fifty roadside clean-up. 🌱 Celebrating their 15th year of achieving a Gold rating, the Zane Trace FFA wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the school staff, community, and everyone who has supported them. A Celebration of Dedication and Achievement On December 22, 2023, we had the distinct pleasure of celebrating a significant milestone in the journey of our first Adult Education LPN-to-RN cohort. This special event was the Pinning Ceremony, a time-honored tradition in the nursing profession, attended by approximately 150 friends and family members who have provided unwavering support to the 14 graduates throughout their academic endeavors. The ceremony represented not just the end of a chapter but the beginning of a promising future for these dedicated students. It was a testament to their hard work, perseverance, and the comprehensive education they received, preparing them to step into society as competent and compassionate Registered Nurses (RNs). One of the ceremony's highlights was the traditional pinning, a symbolic act signifying the transition from student to professional nurse. This moment was particularly poignant, reflecting the graduates' readiness to take on the challenges of the healthcare world with knowledge, empathy, and professionalism. The event also featured the recitation of the Nightingale Pledge, or the Nurse's Oath, which was a powerful moment, with each graduate committing to uphold the highest standards of the nursing profession. 🌟🍳 Don't Miss Out on the 46th Annual Zane Trace FFA Sausage Breakfast! 🍳🌟 Get ready for a morning of mouthwatering delights at the 46th Annual ZT FFA Sausage Breakfast, happening on Friday, February 2nd, from 5 a.m. - 9 a.m. in the ZT Cafeteria. Throughout the week leading up to the breakfast, ZT FFA students will be hard at work, preparing eight hogs and turning them into sausage links for the big day. Plus, it's all for a fantastic cause—100% of the proceeds will be donated to Children’s Hospital, the Ross County Jr Fair, and the Ohio FFA Foundation. In other exciting news, let's give a round of applause to the members of the Zane Trace FFA Chapter who recently competed in the Ohio FFA Food Science and Technology Career Development event. Kailee Adkins, Camron Naumovski, Elise DePugh, and Wyatt Vick truly showcased their skills in food safety, equipment identification, sample evaluation, and product innovation. Zane Trace placed an impressive 4th out of 20 teams, with Wyatt Vick securing the top spot and earning a well-deserved $5,000 scholarship to The Ohio State University. Besides the trip prep and their official Honor Flight training later this spring, they're also still working on the annual Veterans History Project, preserving the oral histories of Appalachian veterans. As we returned from the winter break, a group of staff members immersed themselves in a comprehensive session of Youth Mental Health First Aid training. Designed for parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens, Youth Mental Health First Aid equips adults with the knowledge and skills to assist adolescents (ages 12-18) facing mental health or addiction challenges or crises. This impactful course is tailored for those who regularly interact with young people, fostering a community-wide commitment to understanding, empathy, and timely intervention. Key Components of Youth Mental Health First Aid: 🌐 Informing Adults About Common Mental Health Concerns Among Youth A crucial foundation for creating a compassionate and informed community, this training sheds light on prevalent mental health concerns affecting our youth. 🚫 Reducing Stigma By breaking down barriers and dispelling myths, Youth Mental Health First Aid empowers participants to confront and eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health. 👀 Recognizing Signs and Symptoms Understanding the signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use problems is paramount in providing timely assistance. This training heightens awareness, enabling adults to identify early indicators. 🤝 A 5-Step Action Plan Providing adults with a structured approach, the 5-step action plan equips us to help a youth facing mental health challenges or crises, including situations like suicide. Who Benefits from Youth Mental Health First Aid: Youth Mental Health First Aid caters to a diverse audience, including parents, educators, caregivers, and community members. The course addresses common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches the 5-step action plan for both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders with psychosis, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders. By offering a holistic understanding of these challenges, participants are better prepared to support the young minds within our community. As we reflect on this day of empowerment and education, we look forward to a future where our community stands united, equipped with the knowledge and compassion needed to guide our youth toward resilience and well-being.

👶 Community Service Spotlight! 👶 We're thrilled to share some heartwarming news from our amazing students! In November, Ohio Health Berger Hospital Maternity staff reached out to us, seeking support due to COVID restrictions on visitors. Our dedicated AH junior students stepped up to the plate, offering their time and compassion to make a difference. 🌟 Meet our incredible volunteers: 👉 Kailen King from New Hope Christian Academy 👉 Izzy Picklesimer from Westfall 👉 Lilly Darling from Circleville 👉 October Nichols from Logan Elm These four heroes are spending their after-school hours from Monday to Friday (4:30-8:30) and Saturdays (10 am-2 pm) at the hospital, answering calls, assisting visitors, taking blood work to the lab, creating new files, transporting patients, and more.
